Where is it 5:00pm? is a project that I thought of a very long time ago, based off the Jimmy Buffet song of a similar title.
I never had the time to make this project, so the idea was shelved for about two years. Recently, my laptop was wiped and I had to re-clone all my repositories of projects back into the ~/dev
directory. I stumbled on the idea again, and thought that such a simple project should be easy to complete.
With how rare a quiet night in New York City is, I figured this would be a great opportunity to also learn some new technology while I am at it. Enter Cursor, the tool that steals a lot of the coding work away from the developer, and is much, much better than when I played around with it last summer.
It’s amazing how fast it was able to come up with a lot of the features I’ve seen in modern web apps like a lazy cursor, or a quick light/dark mode switcher. I’m excited to see how app development will change, and how developers will shift their focus in the coming years. For the record, though, I will miss struggling with Tailwind classes.
